Toby Colling Shines at Submission Series in Newcastle

This weekend, Toby Colling stepped into the spotlight once again, taking on a super fight at the Submission Series in Newcastle. Matched up against an experienced grey/black belt in the Gi, Toby made the trip with Nam, accompanied by his family who came to cheer him on.

While waiting for his match, Toby seized an unexpected opportunity when another competitor’s opponent didn’t show. Stepping up, Toby took on a NoGi match against a slightly older blue belt. His relentless buggy choke submission attempts earned him a decision victory, showcasing his adaptability and skill.

Not long after, Toby returned to the mats for his scheduled Gi match. In an incredible display of jiu-jitsu, replicating coach Nam's style and teaching, he secured the win in under two minutes, leaving no doubt about his ability to perform under pressure and the spotlights.

Toby’s performance made everyone at the gym proud, especially coach Nam. His determination and willingness to step up inspire not just the teens but everyone in the team to challenge themselves and step onto the competition mats.
