Join Our Free Beginner Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classes for Teens (13-17): Combat Knife Crime with Martial Arts.

In light of the recent surge in knife crime incidents around Leeds, our community is coming together to offer a solution that can make a real difference. This summer, our Jiu-Jitsu academy in Armley, Leeds, is opening its doors to teenagers aged 13-17 for free beginner classes in grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From Wednesday, July 24th to Friday, August 30th, we invite teens to join us every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6-7pm. These sessions are designed not only to teach self-defense but also to provide a positive outlet for young people during the school holidays.
One of our own members knows too well the devastating impact of knife crime. The tragic murder of 14-year-old Alfie Lewis, his best friend, has deeply affected us all. This initiative is dedicated to his memory and aims to prevent such tragedies by giving teenagers a safe and constructive environment to spend their time.

Our instructor is a highly skilled black belt with over 20 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His expertise ensures that each session is both educational and safe, fostering discipline and respect among participants. Additionally, this training is beneficial for other aspects of their lives, including physical fitness and mental health.

Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Learning a martial art like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers numerous benefits, especially for young adults. Here are a few reasons why it’s important:
Self-Defense: In a world where personal safety is increasingly important, knowing how to protect oneself is invaluable. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches practical self-defense techniques that can help teens feel more secure.
Physical Fitness: Regular training sessions improve overall fitness, strength, and coordination. These physical benefits contribute to a healthier lifestyle and better body awareness.
Mental Health: Engaging in regular physical activity is a well-known way to combat stress, anxiety, and depression. The discipline and focus required in Jiu-Jitsu training can also enhance mental clarity and emotional stability.
Discipline and Respect: Martial arts training instills a sense of discipline and respect for oneself and others. These values are crucial for personal development and social interactions.
Community and Support: Being part of a Jiu-Jitsu gym creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie. This supportive community can provide teens with positive role models and a network of friends who share similar goals.

How to Join?
Our gym is conveniently located in Armley, Leeds, making it accessible for local teenagers. The classes are completely free for teens aged 13-17 throughout the school summer holidays, so there’s no barrier to participation. We encourage parents and guardians to take advantage of this opportunity and enroll their teens in a program that not only keeps them active but also equips them with life skills that can help prevent involvement in crime.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, parents will need to sign a waiver form before their teens can join the classes.
